DESCRIPTION

The refrigerant used in Mazda A/C systems contains Freon gas (R-12) which is an issue of environmental concern. The gas-charge amounts and the charging procedure for Mazda vehicles have been changed, and Mazda has confirmed that the performance and capacity of the A/C system will not be affected.

Please follow the procedure listed below when charging a new A/C system or after opening the refrigerant system.

1. INSPECTION & CHARGING PROCEDURES

Please follow the repair and replacement procedure below for charging an A/C system. Avoid releasing the refrigerant -- add only the necessary amount.

2. When charging an empty A/C system, follow the chart below for the proper charging amount.
A/C REPAIR & PARTS REPLACEMENT

^ Charge with refrigerant only after locating and repairing malfunctions.

^ Do not release refrigerant indiscriminately, use the remaining refrigerant if possible.

^ Oil film at a pipe connection may indicate a loose connection or a leaking O-ring. Tighten the nut or replace the O-ring if necessary.

NOTE:
Overtightening the nut may cause a leak.

^ Seal the charging valve as soon as possible when disconnecting the charge hose.

^ Charge the refrigerant to the specified amount, do not overcharge.

^ Be sure the refrigerant containers do not leak and are tightly sealed. Always store containers below 40~C (104~F).
