Piston & Piston Ring

Check outer circumference of piston for scoring or indications of seizure and replace if necessary. Measure piston diameter at right angle to piston pin and below oil ring groove. Standard piston diameter is 3.3837-3.3845 inches (85.944-85.964mm). Ensure clearance between piston and cylinder wall does not exceed .006 inch (.15mm).
Replace worn, damaged or broken piston rings. Slide ring into cylinder head and ensure ring gap does not exceed .039 inch (1mm). Measure ring clearance in piston around entire circumference of ring groove. Maximum ring clearance is .006 inch (.15mm).
