1. Check journals and pins for damage, scoring or oil hole clogging.
2. Set crankshaft on V-blocks and check crankshaft runout at center journal. On 1989-91 models, if runout exceeds .0016 inch (.04mm), replace crankshaft. On 1992 models, replace crankshaft if runout exceeds 0.0008 inch.
3. Measure each journal diameter in X and Y direction at two points, Fig. 30. Main journal diameter should be 2.4385-2.4392 inches (61.937-61.955mm) and crankpin journal diameter should be 2.0842-2.0848 inches (52.94-52.955mm). Out of round must not exceed .0020 inch (.05mm).
4. If diameter is less than minimum, grind journal to match undersize bearing, which is available in .01 inch (.25mm) undersize. Do not grind rolled fillet area.
