Removal
Fig. 1 Rear Axle Hub, Bearing & Related Components:
1. Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel.
2. Uncrimp tab of locknut and remove locknut and washer, Fig. 1.
3. Place alignment marks on driveshaft and flange and remove driveshaft.
4. Remove caliper attaching bolts and suspend caliper out of way.
5. Remove disc plate attaching screws and the disc plate.
6. Remove parking brake shoe assembly and disconnect parking brake cable and wheel speed sensor.
7. Disconnect trailing arm and shock absorber from knuckle.
8. Disconnect stabilizer control link.
9. Disconnect upper and front and rear lower control links using tool 490727575 or equivalent to detach links.
10. Remove rear hub support assembly.
11. Using tools 49H026108 and 49F026102, or equivalents, press off axle flange.
12. Remove oil seal, retaining ring and rear axle bearing. If bearing inner race remains on axle flange, use a grinder to grind a section of the bearing inner race until only approximately .0197 inch (.5mm) remains, then remove with chisel.
13. Remove dust cover.
