DESCRIPTION
On some vehicles, excessive noise may be heard when operating the driver's power seat. This noise is caused by a lack of lubrication on the power seat motor cables. The cable cover absorbs the lubricant resulting in insufficient lubrication for the motor cables.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
If the above condition exists, replace the power seat motor cables and cable housings with modified parts. The material of the cable housing has been changed to a non-absorbent type.

Removal and installation procedures are outlined as follows:

1. Remove the seat assembly as outlined in Section S of the applicable Workshop Manual.

2. Remove the power unit assembly from the seat assembly.

3. Replace the slider motor cables (outer cover and inner cable) using the following procedures:

a) Remove screws (1).

NOTE:
These screws were installed using a locking agent. Be careful not to damage the screw slot when removing these screws.

b) When pulling out the joint cap (2), move the slide motor assembly toward the center of the vehicle and disconnect the joint cap.

c) Remove the outer cover and the inner cable (3).

d) Install a new outer cover and inner cable on the slide motor side. Install the joint cap on the opposite side. Insert the square head of the inner cable into the square hole of the motor shaft.

e) Apply lubricant between cables.

f) Insert the inner cable into the square hole of the gear box by reversing procedure b. When inserting the square head of the inner cable into the square hole of the gear box, do not bend or twist the head of the inner cable.

g) Install new screws with a locking agent and torque to 50 kg-cm.

NOTE:
When installing the screws, be careful not to drop the rubber spacer.
