DESCRIPTION

A squeal may be heard from the rear brakes. The noise/squeal is characteristic of the material used in manufacturing the brake shoes. The material has been changed and incorporated into production as shown in the following VIN of Production Change.

You can reduce brake noise by replacing the brake shoes with the parts listed below.

REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

1. Confirm your customer's complaint for rear brake noise by operating the vehicle in a safe area at 8-10 mph. Apply the hand brake slightly and listen for noise.

2. Replace the rear brake shoes. Refer to Workshop Manual section "P."

NOTE:
Be sure to inspect related parts, and machine the drum surface as necessary.
