Torquing Tensioning Bolts

Fig. 40 Tension Bolt Tightening Sequence:

1. Install a new sealing washer to each tension bolt.
2. Apply engine oil onto bolt threads.
3. Install tension bolts and torque in sequence, Fig. 40, in several steps to 23-29 ft. lbs. on models with fuel injected engine or 23-27 ft. lbs. on all other models. Note that some engines will not have the No. 11 tension bolt. Also, the bolt marked ``m'' is for the No. 17 bolt position.
4. Turn the eccentric shaft and make sure that the rotation is light and smooth. Replace the sealing washer in the tension bolt when the engine is overhauled.
