Inhibitor Switch (A/T)

The Inhibitor Switch (sometimes referred to as neutral safety switch), located on the right side of the transmission, signals the EC-AT control unit as to gear selector position and prevents starting the vehicle except in "P" or "N" ranges. The EC-AT control unit then signals the ECU whenever "P" or "N" are selected. This input is factored into ECU calculations for outputs such as:

Fuel injection quantity
A/C relay/cut-off
EGR system control
AWS solenoid valve
Pressure regulator solenoid valve
BAC solenoid valve
6PI solenoid valve
Ignition timing control
