Fuel Pump Relay: Description and Operation

Fuel Pump Control System:

The Circuit Opening Relay, located under the dash to the right of the steering column, provides power to the fuel pump during two phases of vehicle operation. While cranking, the relay is energized through the ignition switch and chassis grounded. When the engine starts, the ground circuit is routed through the ECU.

As a safety feature, the relay is only energized when the engine is running or being cranked by the starter motor.
