Ignition Lock: Service and Repair

1. On models equipped with airbag, disarm airbag, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. On models not equipped with airbag, disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove steering wheel, refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair.
4. Remove steering column cover.
5. If necessary, remove air duct and disconnect electrical connectors from combination switch.
6. Remove combination switch assembly from steering column.
7. Using a hammer and chisel, gently tap a groove into the ignition lock body attaching bolts. Using a screwdriver, loosen bolts and remove ignition lock from steering column.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
