SUB FLUID PRESSURE

1. Install pressure test tools as shown in Fig. 5, using adapter tool No. 49 F032 314 in place of tool No. 49 F032 315.
2. Bleed air from system refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Service and Repair.
3. Raise and support front of vehicle and block rear wheels.
4. Open tool valve, start engine and raise power steering fluid temperature to 122-140°F.
5. Raise vehicle speed to 40 mph, and measure fluid pressure.
6. If sub fluid pressure is not as specified in the power steering pressure specification'' chart, replace oil pump assembly.

MAIN PRESSURE

1. Install pressure test tools as shown in Fig. 5.
2. Bleed air from system, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/BLEEDING SYSTEM.
3. Open tool valve, start engine and raise power steering fluid temperature to 122-140°F.
4. Close tool valve, increase engine speed to 1000-1500 RPM and measure oil pump fluid pressure. Open valve. Do not allow valve on tool to remain closed for more than 15 seconds or pump damage will result.
5. If pressure is not as specified in the power steering pressure specification chart, replace oil pump assembly.
6. With valve on tool open turn steering wheel from stop to stop and measure gear housing pressure.
7. If pressure is not as specified in the power steering pressure specification chart, replace steering gear assembly.
