Non-Turbo
A/C RELAYA/C Relay Testing:
1. Disconnect relay connector and remove relay from vehicle.
2. Check that there is no continuity between relay terminals "c" and "d."
3. If not as specified, replace relay.
4. If okay, proceed to next step.
5. Apply 12V to terminal "b" and ground terminal "a."
6. Check that continuity exists between terminals "c" and "d."
7. If not as specified, replace relay.
A/C relay output voltage can be checked at ECU terminal 1L. With ignition and blower switches "ON," voltage should be below 2.5V. With A/C switch "OFF," voltage should be approximately 12V.
CUT-OFF SYSTEM
A/C Cut-Off Control System:
1. Turn blower and A/C switches "ON" (engine not running).
2. Shift manual transmission into gear or automatic transmission into D, S or L range.
3. Open throttle valve fully and verify that compressor magnetic clutch disengages ("click" is heard), then re-engages after approximately 7 seconds.
4. If system does not operate as specified, check throttle sensor, wiring, connections and voltages at ECU terminals 1L, 1O, 1Q, 1R, 2G, 2I, and 3D.
5. If not correct and no other problem is detected, suspect a defective ECU.
