Cylinder Head Assembly: Service and Repair

1. Release fuel system pressure, refer to Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain engine coolant.

3. Remove cylinder head assembly in numbered sequence, Figs. 34 and 35, noting the following:
a. Remove timing belt, refer to TIMING BELT.
b. Loosen cylinder head bolts in three steps in sequence shown in Figs. 36 and 37.

4. Install cylinder head assembly reversing numbered sequence, Figs. 34 and 35, noting the following:
a. Torque cylinder head bolts in three steps in sequence shown in Figs. 38 and 39, to 56-60 ft. lbs.
b. Install timing belt, refer to TIMING BELT.
