Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Adjustments
Throttle Cable Adjustment1. Remove the square head plug and install the SST.
2. Shift into P range and start the engine. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature, and adjust the idle speed if necessary.
Idle speed: 700 - 800 rpm (with parking brake applied)
3. Loosen bolt 1 and bolt 2.
Caution: Loosen bolt 1 before bolt 2
4. Verify that the throttle is fully closed.
5. Tighten bolt 1.
Tightening torque: 7 - 10 Nm (70 - 100 cm-kg, 61 - 87 in-lb)
6. Pull the throttle cable in the direction of arrow B until the line pressure exceeds the specified pressure.
Caution: If the line pressure will not decrease to the adjustment pressure, tighten bolt 2 with the line pressure at the closest point to adjustment pressure. But, it must not be above the maximum specified pressure.
7. Push the cable in the direction of arrow A until the line pressure decreases to the adjustment pressure.
Adjustment pressure: 510 kPa (5.2 kg/cm2, 74 psi)
Specified pressure: 500 - 520 kPa (5.1 - 5.3 kg/cm2, 73 - 75 psi)
8. Tighten bolt 2.
Tightening torque: 7 - 10 N.m (70 - 100 cm-kg, 61 - 87 in-lb)
9. Turn off the engine and verify that the throffle cable moves smoothly.
10. Restart the engine and accelerate slightly, then run it at idle.
11. Verify that the line pressure is within specifications.
Specified pressure: 500 - 520 kPa (5.1 - 5.3 kg/cm2, 73 - 75 psi)
12. If not correct, repeat from Step 3.
13. Remove the SST (oil pressure gauge set) and install a new square head plug.
Tightening torque: 5 - 10 N.m (50 - 100 cm-kg, 43 - 87 in-lb)
