Accelerator Pedal: Description and Operation

Accelerator Pedal And Cable:

PURPOSE
Provide vehicle operator with control over throttle opening.

LOCATION
Pedal assembly is on right side of driver side footwell. Cable runs from pedal assembly to engine throttle body.

OPERATION
Proper accelerator pedal and cable adjustment are necessary to ensure the throttle opens and closes completely and throttle sensors or switches operate correctly. Accelerator pedal travel can be adjusted by turning a bolt on the pedal pivot assembly inside the vehicle. Throttle cable effective length can be adjusted using the adjusting/locking nuts on a threaded sleeve at the intake manifold cable sheath attachment.
