Fuel Tank: Description and Operation

Fuel Tank Assembly:

^ The fuel tank, located under vehicle rear, provides secure on-board fuel storage.
^ The fuel pump is located inside the tank, installed from the top.
^ Tank has vent tubes in top for vapor recovery hose connections.
^ Vapor separator(s) mounted on top of tank prevent liquid fuel from entering and the EVAP system and saturating the charcoal canister.
^ Tank is made of light gauge sheet metal.
^ The filler cap is a sealed type and pressure inside the tank is equalized with atmospheric pressure through the check and cut valve. Valve prevents tank damage from internal pressure becoming too high or too low.
