Antitheft and Alarm Systems: Service and Repair

Obtain the code number from the owner of the vehicle, before disconnecting battery or connectors which may supply power to the audio unit. If the code number has been input in the unit and forgotten, it cannot be canceled and the audio unit will be rendered inoperative. Deactivate the anti-theft operation as follows:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
2. Press the SCAN and AUTO-M buttons simultaneously until bars appear on the display.
3. While the bars are displayed, input the correct preselected code number using the station preset buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4.
4. Press and hold the SCAN and AUTO-M buttons until a beep is heard and ``cod e'' appears on the display (approximately 1.5 seconds).
5. If ``Err'' (error) appears on the display, repeat the procedure from Step 1. Three consecutive errors will activate the anti-theft operation and the audio unit will be completely inoperative.
