DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience the "hold" indicator light flashing while driving. This occurs with no other malfunctions present. A code 57 (reduce torque signal) is displayed when an ECAT tester or self-diagnostic checker is connected. The code displayed is false due to the incorrect circuit logic of the ECAT control unit.
REPAIR PROCEDURE *
When the above condition occurs, do the following:
1. Follow the diagnostic procedures (for service code no. 57) outlined in Section K of the applicable Workshop Manual.
2. Make sure the customer is using premium unleaded fuel with an octane rating of at least 91. If not, replace the vehicle's fuel. The 929 will perform best with premium unleaded fuel having an octane rating of at least 91.
3. If "Hold" indicator liglit still flashes, replace the ECAT control unit with a modified part. Removal and installation procedures are outlined in Section K of the applicable Workshop Manual.
Vehicles built after December 24, 1991 are equipped with the modified ECAT control unit.
