Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair
Fig. 12 Stabilizer Bar Replacement.:
1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheels.
2. Remove undercover.
3. Remove stabilizer bar in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 12, noting the following:
a. Support engine with Engine Support Bar tool No. 49-G017-5A0.
b. Remove steering gearbox mounting bracket nuts, then the gearbox.
c. Support the crossmember with a jack, then remove the retaining bolts.
d. Remove the stabilizer bracket, then lower the crossmember slowly.
e. Remove the stabilizer bar from the crossmember.
4. Install the stabilizer bar in reverse order of sequence shown in Fig. 12, noting the following:
a. Install the stabilizer bar to the crossmember, then stabilizer bracket.
b. Install the crossmember and torque the mounting bolts to 69-93 ft. lbs.
c. Torque steering gear mounting bracket nuts to 27-38 ft. lbs.
d. Tighten the stabilizer bracket bolts after lowering the vehicle.
e. Bleed the air from the power steering system.
