AFFECTED VINS
This bulletin applies to 1992 through 1993 vehicles with a VIN of JM1EC43** P0220565 or lower produced through January 10, 1993.
This bulletin does not apply to vehicles with a VIN equal to or greater than JM1EC43** P0220566 produced after January 10, 1993.
DESCRIPTION
On some vehicles, a cracking noise, similar to gravel hitting the windshield, may be heard. This cracking noise is most evident when the A/C is running for 10 to 20 minutes right after the vehicles sits under the sun.
The instrument panel body expands and contract because of temperature changes. The noise is caused by sticking or slipping between the area where the instrument panel contacts the frame.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
A felt pad has been established as a service part.
1. Remove all the attaching bolts on the instrument panel. Then, pull out the instrument panel assembly by 15 cm.
2. Put the felt pads on both sides of the bracket as shown in the illustration.
