Removal/Installation
Fig. 2 Engine Compartment Components:
Fig. 3 Engine Electrical Connector Locations:
1. Release fuel system pressure, refer to Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain engine oil.
3. Drain cooling system, then raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove engine compartment components in the numbered sequence as shown in Fig. 2, noting the following:
a. Leave power steering hoses connected to the power steering pump, then using suitable wire, secure pump away from engine assembly.
b. Leave air conditioning hoses connected to the air conditioning compressor, then using suitable wire, secure pump away from engine assembly.
5. Disconnect the engine harness connectors from engine assembly as shown in Fig. 3.

Fig. 5 Engine Support & Driveline Component Locations:
Fig. 6 Engine Mounting Support Locations:
6. Disconnect hoses shown in Fig. 4. Cover the hose to be disconnected with a shop towel to prevent possible personal injury due to residual fuel pressure.
7. Remove or disconnect engine components shown in Fig. 5, noting the following:
a. Prior to removing transverse and engine mount members, support engine assembly with engine support bar or equivalent.
b. Remove clutch release cylinder and position away transaxle leaving hose connected.
c. Separate the driveshafts from the transaxle by prying with a bar inserted between the shaft and the case. Do not insert the pry bar to deep or possible damage to the oil seal may result.
8. Disconnect the engine assembly from the engine mounts shown in Fig. 6.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Prime fuel system, refer to Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Service and Repair.
b. Torque all components to specifications.
