Installation
1. Raise the vehicle and support it with safety stands.2. Install in the order shown in the image, referring to Installation Note.
3. Add the specified amount and type of transaxle oil. Service and Repair
4. Warm up the engine and transaxle, and inspect for oil leakage and transaxle operation.

Installation Note
Transaxle
WARNING Do not allow the transaxle to fall from the jack.
1. Set the transaxle on a jack and lift it into place.
2. Install the transaxle mounting bolts.
Tightening torque: 68-99 N.m (6.9-10.1 m-kg, 50-73 ft-lb)
3. Loosely tighten engine mount No.4 bolts.
Engine mounting member
NOTE: Put the engine mount No.1 and No.2 stud bolts in the installing holes when installing the engine mount member.
1. Install the bolts and nuts as shown.
Tightening torque:
A: 37-52 N.m (3.8-5.3 m-kg, 27-38 ft-lb)
B: 64-89 N.m (6.5-9.1 m-kg, 47-66 ft-lb)
2. Tighten engine mount No.4 nuts.
Tightening torque:
A: 67-93 N.m (6.8-9.5 m-kg, 49-69 ft-lb)
B: 27-40 N.m (2.8-4.1 m-kg, 20-30 ft-lb)
3. Remove the SST (engine support).
Drive shaft and joint shaft
CAUTION:
- Inspect the oil seals for damage.
- Do not let the shaft splines contact the oil seals.
- Do not damage the oil seals.
1. Remove the SSTs from the transaxle case.
2. Install the clip with the gap at the top of the groove.
3. Apply transaxle oil to the oil seal lip. Install the drive shaft.
4. Verify that the drive shaft is correctly seated by pulling on the shaft. It must not slide out.
5. Insert the joint shaft to the transaxle.
6. Install the joint shaft to the cylinder block in the order shown.
Tightening torque: 42-62 N.m (4.3-6.3 m-kg, 31-46 ft-lb)
7. Connect the lower arm to the knuckle and tighten the clinch bolt.
Tightening torque: 43-59 N.m (4.4-6.0 m-kg, 32-43 ft-lb)
Stabilizer control link
Install the stabilizer control link.
Tightening torque: 43-61 N.m (4.4-6.2 m-kg, 32-45 ft-lb)
Tie rod end
1. Install the locknut.
Tightening torque: 42-57 N.m (4.3-5.8 m-kg, 31-42 ft-lb)
2. Secure the locknut by using a new cotter pin.
Change control rod and extension bar
1. Install the extension bar to the transaxle.
Tightening torque: 37-52 N.m (3.8-5.3 m-kg, 27-38 ft-lb)
2. Install the change control rod to the transaxle.
Tightening torque: 16-23 N.m (1.6-2.3 m-kg, 12-17 ft-lb)
Back-up light switch connector
1. Install the back-up light switch connector and the bracket for the ground terminals.
2. Connect the back-up light switch connector.
3. Connect the ground terminals.
Tightening torque: 16-23 N.m(1.6-2.3 m-kg, 12-17 ft-lb)
After warming-up the engine, perform the following.
- Check the amount of oil.
- Conduct a road test
1. No abnormal noise in each shift position.
2. Smooth shift change is possible.
3. Transaxle does not jump out of gear.
4. Speedometer operates correctly.
5. Back-up lights operate correctly.
