UNINTENDED REAR DEFROSTER OPERATION
NOTE:
This bulletin contains additional information and replaces the bulletin previously issued (Cat. T, 001/94)
APPLICABLE MODELS/VINS
1992-93 929 vehicles with a VIN of JM1HD461*P0205710 and lower.
DESCRIPTION
The rear defroster may operate if the door lock main switch (driver's door) is activated with the ignition key "ON".
This operation may be caused by moisture entering the right and/or left rear door lock actuator connectors (K-13 or K-14). To eliminate this problem, the connectors have been modified.
Customers complaining of this concern should have the problem verified and the vehicle repaired according to the instructions in this bulletin.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Remove rear door trim.
2. Inspect the connectors for moisture:
^ Operation "A" - If corroded, replace with an intermediate harness according to the instructions listed under Harness Installation.
^ Operation "B" - If not corroded, dry the connector and apply dielectric grease to prevent moisture from re-entering.
