Valve Springs

1. Inspect each valve spring for cracks or damage.
2. Measure free length of spring. Lengths should be as follows:
a. Each spring should be 1.720 inch.

3. If not within specifications, proceed as follows:
a. Measure spring pressure when spring is compressed to 1.398 inch. Pressure reading should be 47 - 48 lbs.
b. Replace spring if not within specifications.

4. Check spring out-of-square; replace spring if measurement exceeds 0.060 inch.
