Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair

Before performing any repair procedures, obtain the code number and deactivate the audio anti-theft function before disconnecting the battery.
Deactivate the airbag system as follows:

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery, then isolate cable end with electrical tape or equivalent.
2. Disconnect airbag diagnostic module electrical connectors from module, then install the Special Service Electrical Connectors Part No. 49-H066-004 into the harness connectors as shown in Fig. 1.
3. Reverse procedure to activate system.
After repairs have been completed, ensure system operation by checking the airbag system warning lamp. If the system is operating normally, the warning lamp will come on when the ignition switch is turned On, then go out after approximately six (6) seconds.
