Timing Belt Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove in the sequence shown in the image, referring to the Removal Notes below for specially marked parts.
Removal Notes:
Crankshaft pulley:
Caution: The crankshaft position sensor rotor is on the rear of the pulley, and can be damaged easily.
- Hold the crankshaft pulley with the SST and remove the lock bolt.
Timing belt:
Before removing the timing belt, perform the following operation:
1. Install the crankshaft pulley lock bolt before timing belt removal.
2. Turn the crankshaft to align the matching marks of the pulleys as shown.
4. Make an arrow on the timing belt to indicate direction of travel if the belt is to be reused.
5. Remove the timing belt.
Caution:
- Be careful not to allow oil, grease, or water on the belt.
- Never forcefully twist the timing belt. Do not turn it inside out or bend it.
