Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL


WARNING: Relieve fuel system pressure. Keep sparks, cigarettes, and open flames away when replacing fuel system components.

Fuel Pump Access Panel:

1. Remove amplifier and CD changer, if equipped.
2. Lift rear floor mat and disconnect pump connector.

Fuel Tank Connections (Electrical, Fuel And vapor):

3. Disconnect fuel and vapor hoses.
4. Remove pump and tank gauge sender unit assembly.
5. Install in reverse order. Secure hoses properly and use new rubber seal.

DISASSEMBLY / ASSEMBLY

Fuel Pump Assembly:

1. Disassemble and assemble as shown on image.
2. Do not use excessive side force when pushing hose onto fuel pump nipple.

Fuel Pump Bracket:

NOTE: When pump is installed in bracket, be sure rubber mount is correctly installed in bottom of bracket and pump is fully seated in rubber mount.
