General Notes
1. If there is more than one malfunction, the code numbers will be indicated in numerical order, lowest number first.
2. The hold indicator flashes to indicate the same pattern as the buzzer of the Self-Diagnosis Checker or the EC-AT Tester. When the TAT terminal of the data link connector is not grounded, the indicator flashes at a constant frequency until the malfunction recovers. However, the service code is memorized in the powertrain control module (transmission).
3. The powertrain control module (transmission) has a built-in fail-safe function for the throttle position sensor, the vehicle speed sensors, and all the solenoids. If a malfunction occurs, the powertrain control module (transmission) will control operation of the remaining components according to a preset fail-safe program.
The vehicle may still be driven, although driving performance will be slightly affected.
4. Any service codes in the powertrain control module (transmission) memory are canceled when the negative battery cable is disconnected for at least 20 seconds.
Troubleshooting
If a service code number is shown on the SST, check for the cause by using the chart related to the code number shown.

After-Repair Procedure
1. Cancel the memory of service codes by disconnecting the negative battery cable for at least 20 seconds. Reconnect the battery cable.
2. Remove the SST (EC-AT TESTER or SELF-DIAGNOSIS CHECKER) if connected.
3. Drive the vehicle at 50 kph (31 mph), and depress the accelerator pedal fully to activate kickdown. Stop the vehicle gradually.
4. Connect the SSTs to the data link connector.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON.
6. Verify that no code numbers are displayed.
