Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints: Service and Repair

1. Remove or disconnect components in numerical order shown in Fig.1 , noting the following:

Fig. 1 Drive Axle Replacement:

a. Place an alignment mark on drive axle and output shaft mating flanges for correct installation.
b. Remove subframe mounting bolts shown in Fig. 2 then lower subframe & differential about 4 inches. Then remove drive axle.

2. Install components by reversing numerical order shown in Fig. 1, noting the following:
a. Torque drive axle to differential retaining nuts to 40 - 47 ft.lb.
