Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Replacement

WARNING: Be careful when working; the oil Is hot.

NOTE: The ATF thermosensor terminals are in the solenoid connector.







1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the resonance duct and the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the control valve body.
4. Remove the solenoid connector.




5. Install a new O-ring to the new solenoid connector and lubricate it with ATF.
6. Install the solenoid connector in the transaxle case.




7. Install the control valve body.
8. Install the air cleaner assembly and the resonance duct.
9. Connect the negative battery cable.

Inspection




1. Remove the control valve body.
2. Remove the solenoid connector.

WARNING: Be careful; the oil may be hot.







3. Place the ATF thermosensor and a thermometer in transaxle oil.
4. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals A and B of the thermosensor.

WARNING: Do not overheat the oil. It may catch fire.




5. Heat the transaxle oil and verify that the resistance drops as shown.
6. If not as specified, replace the ATF thermosensor and connector wiring assembly.
7. Install the control valve body.
