DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience poor A/C performance. The cause is insufficient air flow across the A/C condenser.
A modified sub-harness has been developed to allow both the A/C and engine cooling fans to operate simultaneously and improve condenser air flow.

NOTE:
Prior to installing this sub-harness, verify the A/C system has the correct amount of refrigerant charge and check for any other conditions which may contribute to poor A/C performance refrigerant leakage or poor A/C connections.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

2. Obtain 1 new sub-harness (EAY1 61 54X) and 9 tie-wraps (NA02 61 435). Examine the couplers at each end of the harness. One end of the harness has two 6-pin connectors each with 4 terminals. The other end of the harness also has two 6-pin connectors; one with 5 terminals, the other with 6 terminals. See illustration.

3. Locate the A/C relay (near the passenger side shock tower, see illustration) and disconnect it from the existing A/C harness.

4. Plug the 6-terminal male connector of the new sub-harness into the A/C relay.

5. Plug the 5-terminal female connector of the new sub-harness into the existing A/C harness.

6. Remove the coolant reservoir and the fresh air duct.

7. Route the new sub-harness along the existing A/C harness.

8. Tie-wrap the new sub-harness along the A/C harness at each of the 9 existing tie-wrap locations.

9. Disconnect the A/C harness from the main fuse box. The connector is located in the front part of the fuse box and is the connector closest to the fender.

10. Plug the 4-terminal male connector of the new sub-harness into the main fuse box (figure 2).

11. Plug the 4-terminal female connector of the new sub-harness into the existing A/C harness.

12. Connect the battery negative cable. Stan the engine. Turn on the A/C and verity that both cooling fans are operating.

13. Reinstall coolant reservoir and fresh air duct.
