NOTE:
The asterisk (*) in the VIN can be any number (0 - 9) or X.
DESCRIPTION
During winter months (cold temperatures), the key lock cylinder tumblers may freeze. This may cause complaints that the vehicle's door(s) / hatch can not be unlocked using the key. This usually occurs after the vehicle has been washed and parked outside.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key lock cylinder from the door or hatch.
2. Carefully blow out any water which may be trapped in the cylinder using compressed air.
3. Apply grease to the three points indicated in the diagram below.
4. Install key lock cylinder and confirm correct operation.
5. Remove any grease from the key. Push the key into the cylinder several times to insure no grease is sticking to the key.
