Inhibitor Switch
Replacement1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the resonance duct and the air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector.
4. Remove the spring pin and clip and disconnect the selector cable.
5. Remove the manual shaft nut.
6. Remove the lock washer and lever.
7. Remove the inhibitor switch.
8. Install a new inhibitor switch and loosely tighten the bolts.
CAUTION: Do not tighten the manual shaft nut by using an impact wrench.
9. Install the lever and spring washer.
10. Tighten the manual shaft nut.
Tightening torque: 31 - 46 N.m (3.2 - 4.7 kg.m, 23 - 34 ft.lb)
11. Adjust the inhibitor switch (refer to below), and tighten the bolts.
Tightening torque: 7.8 - 11 N.m (80 - 110 kg.cm, 69 - 95 in.lb)
12. Verify alignment of the holes of the inhibitor switch and the manual shaft lever.
13. Connect the selector cable and install a new spring pin and clip.
14. Connect the inhibitor switch connector.
15. Install the air cleaner assembly and the resonance duct.
16. Connect the negative battery cable.
17. Check the continuity of the inhibitor switch.
Adjustment
1. Turn the manual shaft to N position.
2. Loosen the inhibitor switch mounting bolts.
3. Remove the screw plug.
4. Align the holes of the inhibitor switch and the manual shaft lever by inserting an approx. 2.0 mm (0.079 in) 10 PM pin.
5. Tighten the mounting bolts.
Tightening torque: 7.8 - 11 N.m (80 - 110 kg.cm, 69 - 95 in.lb)
6. Remove the pin and install the screw plug.
Tightening torque: 0.49 - 0.69 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kg.cm, 4 - 6 in.lb)
7. Check the continuity of the switch.
8. If not as specified, replace the inhibitor switch.
5. Remove the manual shaft nut.
6. Remove the lock washer and lever.
7. Remove the inhibitor switch.
8. Install a new inhibitor switch and loosely tighten the bolts.

10. Tighten the manual shaft nut.
