Throttle Sensor

Inspection

Inspection of voltage (variable resistance)
1. Connect a circuit tester to 2F terminal of engine control unit. (B6 SOHC [except California])
Connect a circuit tester to 2T terminal of EC-AT control unit. (K8 DOHC and B6 SOHC [California]) 2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Check the voltage.

Voltage
Throttle valve fully closed: 0.1 - 1.1 V
Throttle valve fully open: 3.1 - 4.4 V

4. If not as specified, replace or adjust the throttle sensor.

Inspection of continuity (idle switch)

1. Disconnect the throttle sensor connector.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to the throttle sensor terminal IDL and GND.

3. Insert a feeler gauge between the stopper and the throttle lever and check the continuity between terminals.
4. If not as specified, replace or adjust the throttle sensor.

Adjustment
1. Disconnect the throttle sensor connector.
2. Loosen the two attaching screws.
3. Insert a 0.15 mm (0.06 in) feeler gauge between the stopper and the throttle lever.
4. Connect an ohmmeter to the throttle sensor terminals IDL and GND.
5. Rotate the throttle sensor clockwise approx. 30 degrees, then rotate it back counterclockwise until the continuity exists and tighten the two attaching screws. (B6 SOHC)
Rotate the throttle sensor counterclockwise approx. 30 degrees, then rotate it back clockwise until the continuity exists and tighten the two attaching screws. (K8 DOHC)
6. Recheck the inspection of the throttle sensor.

Replacement
1. Disconnect the throttle sensor connector.
2. Remove the throttle sensor attaching screws.
3. Remove the throttle sensor.
4. Install the new throttle sensor.
5. Loosely tighten the two attaching screws.
6. Adjust the throttle sensor.
