Line Pressure Test

This test measures line pressures as a means of checking the hydraulic components and inspecting for oil leakage.

Preparation
1. Follow the preparation procedure outlined in STALL TEST. Stall Test
2. Remove the square-head L plug and connect the SST (490378 400A and 49 H019 002) to the line pressure inspection port.
3. Exchange the gauge piece of SST (49 0378 400A) for the other gauge piece (SST (49 B019 901)).

Procedure
1. Start the engine.
2. Check the idle speed and ignition timing in P range.

Idle speed:
B6 SOHC 700 - 800 rpm
K8 DOHC 640 - 700 rpm

Ignition timing (BTDC): 9 - 11 °
(TEN terminal of diagnosis connector grounded)

3. Shift the selector lever to D range and read the line pressure at idle.
4. Exchange the SST (49 B019 901) for the gauge piece of SST (49 0378 400A).

CAUTION: Perform steps 5 and 6 within five (5) seconds to prevent possible transaxle damage.

5. Depress the brake pedal firmly with the left foot and gradually depress the accelerator pedal with the right.
6. Read the line pressure as soon as the engine speed becomes constant, and release the accelerator pedal.

CAUTION: Idling for at least one (1) minute cools the ATF and prevents its deterioration.

7. Shift the selector lever to N range and run the engine at idle for at least one (1) minute.
8. Read the line pressure at idle and at the engine stall speed for each range in the same manner.

Specified Line Pressure:

9. Install a new square-head L plug in the inspection port.

Tightening torque: 5.0 - 9.8 N.m (50 - 100 kg.cm, 44 - 96.8 in.lb)
