Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes

1. The HOLD indicator does not flash to indicate the service code numbers. [B6 SOHC (except California)]
2. If there is more than one malfunction, the code numbers will be indicated in numerical order, lowest number first.

3. The HOLD indicator [B6 SOHC (California) and K8 DOHC or MIL [B6 SOHC (except California)] flashes to indicate the same pattern as the buzzer of the EC-AT Tester (49 G019 901A or 49 G019 901).
When the check connector is not grounded, the indicator flashes at a constant frequency until the malfunction recovers. However, the service code is memorized in the EC-AT control unit.

4. The EC-AT control unit (indicates engine control unit for B6 SOHC model (except California)] has a built-in fail-safe function for the throttle sensor, the speed sensor [B6 SOHC (except California)], speedometer sensor [B6 SOHC (California) and K8 DOHC], and all the solenoids.
If a malfunction occurs, the EC-AT control unit will control operation of the remaining components according to a preset fail-safe program.
The vehicle may still be driven, although driving performance will be slightly affected.

5. After repairing a problem, turn the ignition switch OFF, disconnect the negative battery cable for at least 20 seconds, and depress the brake pedal to erase the service code number(s) from the EC-AT control unit memory.
