Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.2. Raise the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
3. Drain the transaxle oil into a suitable container.
4. Remove in the order shown in the image, referring to Removal Note.

3. Resonance duct
4. Air cleaner assembly
5. Battery
6. Battery carrier
7. Neutral switch connector
8. Back-up light switch connector
9. Ground
10. Speedometer cable
11. Extension bar
12. Change control rod
13. Tie rod end
14. Stabilizer control link
15. Drive shaft
16. Manifold stay
17. Starter
18. Engine mounting member
19. Clutch release cylinder
20. Engine mount No.2
21. Engine mount No.4
22. Transaxle
Removal Note
Tie rod end
CAUTION:
- Do not damage the dust seal.
- Use a nut to prevent thread damage.
- Do not reuse the cotter pin.
1. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut until it is flush with the end of the ball stud.
2. Disconnect the tie rod end from the knuckle by using the SST.
Drive shaft
1. Remove the clinch bolt from the lower arm ball joint.
CAUTION: Wrap a rag around the ball joint dust seal to protect it from damage.
2. Pry the lower arm out of the knuckle.
CAUTION:
- Do not let the drive shaft splines damage the oil seal.
- Do not damage the oil seal.
3. Separate the drive shaft from the transaxle by prying with a bar inserted between the outer ring and the transaxle.
4. Suspend the drive shaft with a rope.
Engine mounting member
1. Support the engine by using the SST before removing the engine mounting member.
2. Remove the engine mounting member.
Clutch release cylinder
CAUTION: Do not damage the clutch pipe.
1. Remove the bolts and clip shown.
2. Lay aside the clutch release cylinder and the clutch pipe.
Transaxle
1. Loosen the SST (engine support) and lean the engine toward the transaxle.
2. Support the transaxle on a jack.
Warning Do not allow the transaxle to fall from the jack.
3. Remove the transaxle mounting bolts.
4. Remove the transaxle.
