Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain differential oil and remove rear wheels.
4. Remove exhaust pipe.
5. Mark flanges for correct installation the remove the propeller shaft.
6. Immediately after the propeller shaft is removed from the extension housing, install SST #49 0259 440 or equivalent to prevent oil leakage.
7. Disconnect speedometer cable.
8. Disconnect the wire harness from the Power Plant Frame (PPF).
9. Support the transmission with a jack.
10. On manual transmission cars, remove the PPF frame bracket.
11. Remove the differential-side bolts and pry out the spacer.
12. Remove the differential mounting spacer.
13. Turn an M14x1.5 bolt into the sleeve.
14. Twist and pull the bolt downward.
15. Install an M6x1 bolt into the hole in the block to hold the sleeve and remove the long M14x1.5 bolt.
16. Remove the M6x1 bolt.
Caution: Do not remove the spacers as shown in the image above from the PPF, if they are removed then replace the PPF as an assembly.
17. Remove the transmission-side bolts and remove the PPF.
18. Mark the drive shaft and output shaft for proper installation.
19. Support the differential with a jack.
20. Lower the differential and move it forward.
21. If it is difficult to separate the driveshaft from the output shaft, remove one side upper arm installation bolt and nut.
22. Separate the driveshaft from the output shaft.
23. Prepare a steel plate as shown in the image above, a wooden block, bolts (M8x1.25), and washers.
24. Install the parts as shown above, this will prevent damage to the fire wall, crank angle sensor, and engine mounts.
