Installation

1. Install front engine mount bracket and tighten bolts to specifications.
2. Install transaxle and mounting bolts, then tighten bolts to specifications.
3. Install front engine mount rubber and hand tighten through bolt.
4. Install starter and tighten bolts to specifications.
5. Slowly lower engine and transaxle assembly into compartment, aligning mounts with mounting holes.
6. Install engine mount member and hand tighten front engine mount nuts, then install mount member bolts and nuts, and tighten to specifications.
7. Install lefthand engine mount and tighten bolts to specifications.
8. Install righthand engine mount rubber, then tighten nuts and bolts to specifications.
9. Install rear engine mount bracket and tighten bolts to specifications.
10. Install lefthand engine mount rubber, then tighten bolts and through bolt to specifications.
11. Remove chain and tighten front engine mount bolts to specifications.
12. Install front engine mount rubber through bolt and tighten to specifications.
13. Install lower engine mount rubber and tighten bolts to specifications.
14. Install left engine mount stay bracket and ground harness, then tighten bolts to specifications.
15. Apply grease to joint and driveshaft ends, then put on new clips with end gap upward and install driveshafts.
16. Install joint shaft and tightening bolts to specifications counterclockwise.
17. Install lower arm ball joint to knuckle and tighten through bolt to specifications.
18. Install tie rod end to knuckle, tighten to specification and install new cotter pin.
19. Install stabilizer control link and tighten to specifications.
20. On models with manual transaxle, install extension bar and shift control rod, and tighten nuts and bolts to specifications.
21. Install new gasket and connect front exhaust pipe to exhaust pipe, then hand tighten new nuts.
22. Connect exhaust pipe to vehicle with mount rubbers and tighten exhaust pipe mounting nuts to specifications.
23. Install transverse member and tighten bolts to specifications.
24. Install clutch release cylinder and clips, then tighten bolts to specifications.
25. Connect heater, fuel, brake vacuum and purge vacuum hoses.
26. Connect harness connectors, Fig. 1.
27. Install air conditioning compressor and power steering pump and tighten bolts to specifications, then connect power steering pump pressure switch connector.
28. Install power steering pump pulley and tighten bolt to specifications.
29. Install power steering oil reservoir and engine ground, then tighten bolts to specifications.
30. Install drive belts and adjust tensions.
31. Install radiator and connect oil cooler hoses.
32. Connect upper and lower radiator hoses, then install coolant fan assembly.
33. Install coolant reservoir hose and connect coolant fan motor connector.
34. Ensure throttle valve is fully closed, then measure accelerate cable freeplay. If freeplay is not 0.06 - 0.16 inch, proceed as follows:
a. Twist rotational stopper B clockwise while unlocking stopper A, Fig. 2.

b. Push spring C and adjust cable freeplay.
c. Lock stopper A after locking rotational stopper B.
35. Install air cleaner assembly and connect mass airflow sensor connector then install fresh air duct.
36. Reactivate audio anti-theft function as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
37. Fill engine with oil, radiator with coolant and transaxle with oil, then install hood and front wheels.
38. Start engine, then check for fluid leaks, ignition timing and idle speed, and emission control system operation.
39. Turn engine off and check drive belt tensions, then road test vehicle and check fluid levels.
