DESCRIPTION





If a defect is suspected in the CPU (Central Processing Unit) follow the procedures in the attached instructions to properly inspect and repair the vehicle.

NOTE:
Service Managers - Please place a copy of this bulletin in each of the applicable workshop manuals.





CPU (Central Processing Unit) TROUBLESHOOTING





FLOWCHART 1 - LIGHT ON REMINDER CHIME SOUNDS - With the light switch turned off, ignition switch off and all doors closed.





FLOWCHART 2 - LIGHT ON REMINDER CHIME DOES NOT SOUND - With the light switch turned on, ignition switch off and any door(s) open.








FLOWCHART 3 - IGNITION KEY REMINDER CHIME SOUNDS - With ignition key removed from ignition and any door is opened.





FLOWCHART 4 - IGNITION KEY REMINDER CHIME DOES NOT SOUND - With the ignition key in the ignition and any door(s) opened.





FLOWCHART 5 - SEAT BELT WARNING CHIME SOUNDS - With seat belts fastened





FLOWCHART 6 - SEAT BELT WARNING CHIME WILL NOT SOUND - With seat belts unfastened.

FLOW CHART 7 - SECURITY INDICATOR LAMP DOES NOT ILLUMINATE

^ Check for indicator lamp.

^ Check for open circuit in the security indicator lamp circuitry in the instrument cluster

^ Inspect for damaged, pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires at the instrument cluster. X-15 connector (93 model only), X-13 connector (94-96 models) and the 20-pin connector.








FLOWCHART 8 - THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM WILL NOT ARM








FLOWCHART 9 - THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM WILL ARM BUT ALARM IS INOPERABLE








FLOWCHART 10 - THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM ALARM CONTINUES TO SOUND
