RATTLING NOISE FROM THE HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LAMP

AFFECTED VINS

This bulletin applies to vehicles with a VIN of 1YVGE31B1P5163778 or lower produced through October 26, 1992.

This bulletin does not apply to vehicles with a VIN equal to or greater than 1YVGE31B1P5163779 and produced after October 26, 1992.

DESCRIPTION

On some vehicles, a rattling noise may be heard from the High-Mounted Stop Lamp located on the rear package tray.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

If the above condition occurs, refer to the following repair procedure:





1. Remove the High-Mounted Stop Lamp cover. Figure 1.

2. Remove the High-Mounted Stop Lamp unit from the bracket holder by removing the two front bolts. Figure 1.





3. Remove the bracket holder. Bend the top portion of the bracket 3 mm (from point A to point B. Figure 2.





4. Place a piece of foam tape along the bottom mating surface area of the High-Mounted Stop Lamp unit (250 mm long x 10 mm wide x 2 mm thick). Figure 3.

5. Reinstall the High-Mounted Stop Lamp in the reverse order of removal.
