All 1993 through 1994 MX-6 model vehicles
1995 MX-6 vehicles with a VIN of 1YVGE31**S5392390 and lower.
DESCRIPTION
A "rattling" or "popping" type noise may be heard from the sunroof. This noise occurs while driving with the sunroof in a closed position.
The noise may be caused by the rubber stoppers (located on the rear guide assemblies) slipping against the sunroof rail. Modified parts are available to eliminate this noise.
If a customer complains of this noise, replace the rubber stoppers according to the instructions in this bulletin.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the concern.
^ If the noise is coming from the sunroof area, proceed to step 2.
^ If the noise is not coming from the sunroof area, refer to the NVH manual or workshop manual for troubleshooting procedures.
2. Remove the sunroof trim and the sunroof panel. Refer to section S of the workshop manual.
NOTE:
Prior to removing the sunroof panel, note the location of any height adjustment shims.
3. Locate the rubber stoppers on either side of the rear guide assembly. Refer to Fig. 1.
4. Tilt the sunroof to the "UP" position and remove the rubber stoppers by sliding each forward on the rear guide assembly.
5. Remove any excess grease from the sunroof rails under the rubber stoppers.
6. Install modified rubber stoppers onto the rear guide assemblies by sliding them rearward until they lock in place. Refer to Fig. 2
7. Install the sunroof panel. Refer to section S of the workshop manual.
8. Install the sunroof trim. Refer to section S of the workshop manual.
9. Verify repair and smooth operation of the sunroof.
