CENTER CAP OF ALUMINUM WHEEL TURNING YELLOW

AFFECTED VINS

This bulletin applies to all 1993 MX-6/626 models with aluminum wheels produced through July 14, 1992 and have a VIN of 1YVGE****P5126935 and lower.

This bulletin does not apply to 1993 MX-6/626 models with a VIN equal to or greater than 1YVGE****P5126936 and produced after July 14, 1992.

DESCRIPTION

On some vehicles, the plastic center cap of the aluminum wheel may turn yellow due to fading of the protective coating. A modified part has been established to correct this condition. Vehicles (w/aluminum wheels) produced after the July 14, 1992 production date are equipped with the modified cap.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

If this condition occurs, replace the center cap with the modified part. The center cap can be removed by using a flathead screwdriver to pry it from the wheel. Be careful not to scratch the wheel.

NOTE:
The new center cap has the new Mazda logo. For vehicles with center caps bearing the old style logo, replace all 4 caps. For vehicles with center caps bearing the new style logo, replace only the affected caps. See Figure shown.
