GLOVE BOX LID SQUEAK DURING OPERATION (Cold Weather)

APPLICABLE MODELS/VINS

All 1993-95 MX6 vehicles with a VIN of 1YVGE31**S5389217 and lower

DESCRIPTION

A squeak noise may be heard when opening or closing the glove box lid during cold weather. If a customer complains of This noise, follow the instructions below to correct This concern.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify the complaint.





2. Remove the glove box assembly. Refer to section S of the workshop manual.

3. Push the roll pin from The hinges with a suitable tool.

NOTE:
Mark right and left hinges to ensure proper installation.





4. File 0.5 mm from the outside edges of both glove box hinge towers.

CAUTION:
Use care not to remove too much from the hinge towers.

5. Lubricate hinges towers with petroleum jelly (or equivalent).

6. Install hinges to respective hinge towers.

NOTE:
Install the right hinge to the right hinge tower and left hinge to The left hinge tower.

7. Install the glove box.

8. Verify the repair.
