Subject
HOOD VIBRATION
DESCRIPTION
The hood of the vehicle may vibrate even during smooth surface driving. There are two possible causes for this symptom: insufficient adhesive between the hood and the reinforcement, and/or misadjustment of the hood stopper rubber.
Insufficient adhesive between the hood and the reinforcement may result in fluttering at the rear portion of the hood. Misadjustment of the hood stopper rubber may cause vibration at the forward portion of the hood.

INSPECTION & REPAIR PROCEDURE
If the vibration appears to be occurring at the rearportion of the hood, perform Procedure 1. If the vibration appears to be occurring at the forward portion of the hood, perform Procedure 2.
Procedure 1
1. Raise the hood and carefully remove the hood insulator.
2. Identify all areas where the adhesive between the hood (outer panel) and the reinforcement (inner panel) has separated.
NOTE:
Check for separation by carefully pulling the inner panel away from the outer panel.
3. Clean the area with a suitable degreaser and allow it to dry.
4. Apply a body repair constructive adhesive (3m Hood Flutter Repair Kit # 08105 or equivalent) between the outer and inner panels.
5. Allow one hour for proper curing.
6. Reinstall the hood insulator.
Procedure 2
1. Make sure the protrusion on the rubber stopper (Part No. A001 56 786) is aligned with the slot in the shroud plate. If it is not, turn the rubber stopper until it is in the proper position. Figure 1.
NOTE:
The rubber stopper is required to touch the hood and, if the height of the stopper is too low or too high, it will not work properly.
