DESCRIPTION

The rearview mirror may fall off the windshield due to poor adherence. Customer's experiencing this problem should have the mirror attached using the procedures in this bulletin. It is not necessary to replace the mirror or base if neither are damaged or missing.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

To attach the rearview mirror to the windshield, use the Loctite Rearview Mirror Adhesive Kit.

NOTE:
Reuse the original mirror base if it is available. If missing or damaged, a replacement base is available. Refer to the instructions below to remove the base from the mirror. For part ordering information refer to the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.

1. Remove the mirror base from the mirror in two (2) steps.

^ Insert a small flat head screwdriver into the notch of the mirror assembly until tension is felt (mirror base is held to the mirror using spring tension). Refer to Fig. 1.

^ With the small screwdriver still inserted, use a second screwdriver to pry the mirror base from the mirror. Refer to step 2 of Fig. 1.

2. Mark the prior location of the mirror base on the outside of the windshield using the mirror base as a template.
3. Remove the old adhesive from the mirror base and windshield with a razor (or equivalent tool). NOTE: Do Not use a wire wheel on the mirror base or windshield. Use a suitable scraping device (razor blade or utility knife) to maintain a smooth surface.
4. Clean the surface of the mirror base and windshield with alcohol to remove any residue.
5. Apply primer (supplied in kit) to both the mirror base and the windshield. Allow the primer to dry at least five (5) minutes.

NOTE:
Follow all warnings outlined in the Loctite kit.

6. Apply one (1) drop of adhesive (supplied in kit) to the back of the mirror base. Spread to a thin film over the entire surface of the base.
7. IMMEDIATELY press the mirror base to the windshield and hold in place for one (1) minute. Allow base to set undisturbed for 15 minutes.
8. Gently mount the mirror to the base.
9. Clean the windshield of location marks performed in step 2.

NOTE 1:
The mirror base quantity is zero unless the base is damaged or lost.

NOTE 2:
Adhesive is commercially available at most automotive supply stores.
