DESCRIPTION

A rattle noise may be heard from the right rear corner of the vehicle while traveling on rough roads. The rattle is caused by the pre-muffler bracket hitting the body of the vehicle.

If a customer complains of this rattling noise, inspect and repair the vehicle according to the instructions below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify the complaint.

^ Safely raise and support the vehicle.

^ WARNING:
PUT ON HEAT PROTECTIVE GLOVES BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE FOLLOWING STEP.

^ Grasp the end of the tail pipe and move it toward the outside of the vehicle.

^ Observe the hanger bracket on the pre-muffler.





a) If the bracket comes in contact with the body, proceed to step 2. Refer to Fig. 1.

b) If the bracket does not come in contact with the body, refer to the workshop manual or the NVH manual for troubleshooting procedures.

2. Use a piece of pipe or similar tool to bend the hanger bracket downward approximately 1 inch. Refer to Fig. 1.

3. Confirm the repair.
