2 - 4 Brake Band
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then clean transaxle exterior thoroughly with suitable steam cleaner or cleaning solvents.2. Support engine with suitable engine support, then raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain transaxle fluid into suitable container, then remove lefthand splash shield.
4. On MX-6 and 626 models, remove transverse member.
5. Remove engine mounting member.
6. Remove oil pan and gasket. Discard gasket.
7. Loosen locknut and torque piston stem to 105 - 130 in.lb.
8. Loosen piston stem one and a half turns, Fig. 7, then hold piston stem and torque locknut to 19 - 28 ft.lb.
9. Install new gasket and oil pan. Torque oil pan bolts to 74 - 95 in.lb.
10. Install engine mount bushings, then the engine mount member. Ensure No. 2 engine mount stud bolts pass through mount member installation hole.
11. Install A nuts, Fig. 8. Torque nuts to 80 - 68 ft.lb.
12. Loosely tighten B nut, Fig. 8 and 9, then remove engine support.
13. Install, then torque A bolts, Fig. 8 and 9, to 55 - 77 ft.lb.
14. On MX-6 and 626 models, install transverse member. Torque bolts to 69 - 93 ft.lb.
15. Install lefthand splash shield, then fill transaxle with specified transaxle fluid and check for leaks. Drive vehicle and check for proper operation.
