Removal

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
3. Drain the transaxle oil into a suitable container.
4. Remove in the order shown in the image, referring to Removal Note.

Removal Note
Clutch release cylinder


CAUTION: Do not damage the clutch pipe.

1. Remove the bolts and clips shown.
2. Lay aside the clutch release cylinder and the clutch pipe.




Tie rod end

CAUTION:
- Do not damage the dust seal.
- Use the nut to prevent thread damage.
- Do not reuse the cotter pin.

1. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut until it is flush with the end of the ball stud.
2. Disconnect the tie rod end from the knuckle by using the SST.

Drive shafts




1. Remove the clips.
2. Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor harness mounting nuts.




3. Remove the clinch bolt from the lower arm ball joint.






CAUTION: Wrap a rag around the ball joint dust seal to protect it from damage.

4. Pry the lower arm out of the knuckle.






CAUTION:
- Do not let the drive shaft splines damage the oil seal.
- Do not damage the oil seal.

5. Separate the right side of the drive shaft from the transaxle by prying with a bar inserted between the outer ring and the transaxle.
6. Suspend the drive shaft with a rope.




7. Install the SST into the transaxle to hold the side gears.




8. Separate the drive shaft (left side) from the joint shaft by using the copper bar and hammer.




Engine mount member
1. Support the engine by using the SST before removing the engine mount member.
2. Remove the engine mount member.

Transaxle




1. Loosen the SST (engine support) and lean the engine toward the transaxle.
2. Support the transaxle on a jack.

WARNING: Do not allow the transaxle to fall from the jack.







3. Remove the transaxle mounting bolts.
4. Remove the transaxle.
