AFFECTED MODELS
1992-94 323/Protege with a VIN of JM1BG22**R0839749 and lower.

DESCRIPTION

The courtesy lamp cover may become dislodged and fall off the door panel after repeated door operation (opening and closing) in extremely hot temperatures.

This concern is caused by the hot ambient temperatures and its affect on the lens fastener's holding strength. To prevent this concern, the following changes are made:

^ The fasteners' configuration has changed to increase strength.

^ The courtesy light lens installation procedures has changed to prevent excessive stress on the lens.

Customers complaining of this problem should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, the lens replaced.

NOTE:
It is not necessary to replace the courtesy light assembly to correct this problem.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove old lens (if still present).





2. Install the new lens as shown in Fig. 1.

CAUTION:
Install only one fastener at a time. Installing both at the same time may result in damage to the lens.
